Greg Deftereos
Greg Deftereos was born in Melbourne in 1966. He studied printmaking from 1985-87 at the Victorian College of The Arts, where he is currently completing a Master of Fine Art. Deftereos has held a number of solo exhibition in Australia including Babble at 200 Gertrude Street, 1996 and in 1997 at Robert Lindsay Gallery. He also continues to exhibit regularly in both Greece and Cyprus where he held the solo exhibitions 16 Minutes at Cyprus House in Athens and Stuck in the Middle with You at The Moufflon in Nicosia in 1999. This project was assisted by an international touring grant from Arts Victoria. In Australia his work has been showcased in such group exhibitions as Field and Body at Griffith University, 1993, and the Deacon Graham & James/Arts 21 Award at the lan Potter Gallery, 1997. He also curated the exhibition Mnemosyne or Do Humans Dream in Negative Strips? at CCP Melbourne 1997 which explored the nature of memory and photography.
