Richard Stringer

Richard Stringer was born in Melbourne, Victoria in 1959. He completed his Bachelor of Art (Sculpture) at the Victorian College of the Arts in 1981 and left Australia for a one year study tour of Europe and the Middle East. On returning he participated in a number of important exhibitions including The Second Australian Sculpture Triennial at the National Gallery of Victoria and Sculpture Siege at Heide Park in 1984. His works have been represented in the Moet & Chandon Touring Exhibition 1994, the Deacon Graham & James/Arts 21 Award 1996 and was a participating member of the Volume and Form exhibition, Singapore in 1999. His first solo exhibition was held at United Artists Gallery in 1985 and his most recent at the Stephen Mclaughlan Gallery in 1999. Stringer has received two Australia Council travel grants and continues to travel regularly to destinations including Africa, Europe, India and South East Asia, particularly Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
